Mabel's Adventure ends in Trouble

I don't know what happened exactly but last weekend Mabel returned from her daily hunting trip with a gash in her leg.  We think she got stuck on something and had to pull herself free.  She had a piece of skin hanging down in front of her leg.  There was very little blood but definitely a big hole.

Since it was the weekend we tried to doctor Mabel at home.
Emily was here and she bathed Mabel.
Then we found some of the medicine I had used on Heloise (after the chicken incident) and treated her wound.
Then I tried to cover it with a cut out sock and a clean rag but it kept sliding down.

By the time we got Mabel to the vet she had licked it so much it was infected.  They had to put her under to sew it up and they added drains at the same time.  To stop her from licking the stitches, she will have to wear the cone of shame for two weeks at least.

When Mike went to pick Mabel up after surgery, she wouldn't walk out of the recovery room.  The staff had to ask Mike to come in and coax her out. Mike thinks she was afraid of what else they might to do her.  Once Mabel heard Mike's voice she responded by heading out to greet him.  However, because she had the cone on she kept hitting the floor and walls.  Mike felt bad for her so he stopped at her doggy day care providers on the way home. Frank and Lois came out to the truck and gave her treats.

Mabel a few days after surgery.
She feels much better but she continues to hit the walls with that cone.
She has tried to go hunting a few times too.
We have had to put her under house arrest.
