Getting Ready for Aunt Kathy's First Visit

Mike and I have been preparing for Aunt Kathy's visit.  We have decided to give her the full farm treatment.  We have planned a wienie roast for Friday night and have cleaned up the shed in preparation for her staying there.  We still have the kayaks out by the pond so she can go out of the water.  We are even holding some catfish food in reserve so she can feed the fish.

We decided to have the wienie roast in the backyard because the landscapers removed the burn pile from the front yard.  So Mike got his father's tractor and removed the debris that was in the backyard.  That included several huge pieces of plywood and a big piece of plastic that had housed some bees earlier this summer.

Next Mike moved the picnic table from the side of the shed on to our new cement patio.  Personally I think he was willing to do this because it gave him an excuse to use the tractor.  But either way I was glad to have it moved.  It would be perfect for holding s'more fixings.

Mike also went ahead and mowed and trimmed the yard although our recent drought (20 days of no rain) has limited the amount of grass growth.

In the meantime, I stocked the shed apartment with some fall necessities like blankets, a warm sweater jacket and hot chocolate.  It is actually suppose to be on the warm side this weekend but the nights are still cool.  Now I just have to remember to stock up on worms so Aunt Kathy can catch some fish too. *

*I hope she still comes after reading this blog.  I never mentioned the fishing part of her visit to her.   She was a little hesitant about the wienie roast so I didn't dare mention the rest.
