Laura's Early Birthday

Taking a furniture shopping break at Trader Joe's
Laura was on vacation this past weekend.  Her school had a holiday.  Since it was the weekend before her birthday, the family decided to celebrate now while she had the time and Aunt Kathy was visiting.

On Friday, Aunt Kathy and I took her furniture shopping.  Laura had wanted to buy a living room chair, curtains, and a rug but just had not gotten around to shopping for them.  We went to four stores and a craft store and ended up with two blue chairs for her living room, a rug, curtains for the bedroom and a coat rack.
On Saturday, Laura's sister Emily and her grandparents, Lois and Frank, joined us for a birthday dinner.  The theme was Saint Louis and we had maps for the tablecloths and bottles of Fitz Root beer (which is made in St. Louis) as the party favors.  Kathy and I found the Fitz Root Beer at Buchheit's while exploring Greenville on her first day here.  That store sells a little bit of everything.

Of course, everyone made sure to leave room for a birthday cake from Larry's in Carbondale.

After dinner, the girls played Pokeno for money.
Emily requested we take this picture of her and her winning card.
She wants to use this same card the next time we play.
I would say Laura had a great birthday weekend.  The only problem is that her birthday is in November.  What can we possibly do to top this weekend?
