Fixing the Crack in the Basement
There is a crack in the basement cement wall. We first learned of this when Mike found water on the basement floor. Now we even more proof because we can see the crack. Our builders came and removed the dry wall. Turns out the crack goes the entire length of the cement wall in Mike's office.

To make sure the waterproofer guy could get to the entire crack, the builder took off more dry wall. Here you can see it has been removed from the dividing wall between Mike's office and the basement and some dry wall was removed on the basement side. Fortunately, this dry wall removal didn't occur until after 14 people had spent Christmas day in the basement. |
Today, Duane from the Basement Waterproofing company arrived to seal the crack. First, he put an epoxy over the entire crack and then before it dried, he added little plastic nozzles into the epoxy. Once dried, he injected sealant into the nozzles to fill the crack. The sealant expands as it hardens to fill all crevices in the crack.
Now we wait until the next rain to see if it works.
