Adventures during Spring Break

Emily's friends invited her to go to Florida with them on spring break.  She turned them down.  She came here instead.  I was afraid a vacation at the pond with her parents and six dogs would not be as exciting as a vacation at a beach house in Florida with four of her friends.  However, now I am thinking it may not be the same but we do have our own excitement here.

Mike took Emily fishing on the dock.  Last week he claimed you couldn't walk around the pond without seeing tons of fish in the shallow water.  He couldn't wait to finally get out there.  And sure enough he caught a fish.  I hope you can spot it in the picture.

Despite the fact that this was a remarkably small fish, Mike and Emily wanted to make sure I got a picture for the blog.  While they were taking the picture, Gracie was doing her usual dancing act around the fish.  She gets on her hind legs and jumps at the fish.  She snaps at it trying to get it.  Unfortunately, Frankie (the puppy) is new to this act and he came over to join in the new fun.  Instead of getting distracted by the fish though, he thought Gracie was playing a new game.  He inadvertently hit her with his hip and she was off balance enough she fell off the dock and into the pond.

That was not the highlight of this story.  When Gracie resurfaced, she was disoriented.  She kept doggy paddling but just back and forth.  She seemed confused as to where to find the shore.  Mike finally told Emily to help the dog.  So Emily took off her jacket and jumped in.  Just as she hit the water, Gracie started to head to shore.  Still Emily grabbed her and brought her to dry land.

I'm pretty sure that Emily's friends in Florida will have a hard time beating this spring break story.
