A Record Year

Unfortunately it has been an abysmal year for finding mushrooms.  The official Peterson count for this season was 152.  The hunters included Bill (who flew here for a month's stay just to mushroom hunt), Lois, Mike, Laura, Emily, and Scott.  Yes, Scott even dropped by and joined the hunt.  Although to be honest, I don't think he lasted long.  He and Bill ended up fishing in the pond.

According to Bill and Lois, this has been the worst year ever for hunting mushrooms.  I checked my records which, since I have only been here two seasons, aren't extensive and found this to be a true statement.  Last year 's total was 239.  I guess it is a good thing that Emily and Laura made the effort to come up for a weekend during mushroom hunting this year.   The way things are going there won't be any mushrooms to hunt in a few years- at least on our property.  

Mike can not understand this.  All the years he has been away, Lois and Bill have found hundreds of mushrooms every April.  They always sent him proof via cell phone pictures.  Now he is starting to wonder if they were just playing with his mind.  Maybe they were just sending him the same picture every year.  I guess we will never know the truth.  

Anyway, there is always next year.  Suzanne's boyfriend Heath thinks he may have a talent for finding mushrooms.  Maybe we will just have to have him and Suzanne come visit in April and see if they have any better luck.
