New Purchases

We have added some more furniture to our home.  In the past week, we have acquired a new kitchen table with six chairs and two new couches.

Actually, the couches are dog couches.  We found them in a dog catalog.

Our dogs spend a lot of time in the basement and they spend lots of that time on our people couches.   We have covers for the couches but the family usually forgets to take them off when we have guests.  This is very unwelcoming to say the least.  Then if our guests get tired of standing and do sit down they come away covered in dog hair.  So the goal is to get the dogs to spend time in their own couches and leave my couches alone.

So far it is not working.  The new dog couches are popular but so are my couches.  The dog couches are huge so we were hoping they would be a draw for the three big dogs who all shed but the small dogs like them too.  In fact, Gracie, the miniature dachshund, has taken to stretching out right in the middle of one of the couches so no one else can even share it with her.  And Gracie is the only dog that doesn't shed.

We are more pleased with the new kitchen table and chairs.  They were hand made locally and stained a cherry color of my choice.  They add some class to my kitchen.  The table will also expand so I can seat eight people.  No longer will I have to add a card table to the existing kitchen table to get enough eating room.

So we are one for two in our attempts to be more hospitable.
