Visitors
We have had visitors to the farm recently, both wanted and unwanted.
Wanted
Marissa dropped by on her way to summer employment in Colorado. She is going to be working on a small CSA farm. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Members of the local community buy 'shares' in the farm. This gives the farmer funds and guaranteed sales. The member gets a box of fresh produce usually weekly during growing season.
Marissa will be learning all about food production. I told her to stop back here on her next trip and teach me what she learned.
Because she is interested in local food production Emily took her to the Greenville winery. They sampled six wines. Some of which were made from the wine harvest right at the winery.
Unwanted
Well, these guys were unwanted by me. Frankie discovered a young family of raccoons sitting in our big tree in the middle of the yard. He notified all the other dogs and we had quite a bit of excitement before Mike finally made the dogs come inside.
As best we can tell, while the dogs were inside the young raccoons abandoned the tree. We haven't seen them since.
That is a good thing.
