Setting Records

We have set some new records at the pond.

First, Mike caught an 8.5 pound catfish in our pond.  This is a new record for a catfish.  The previous record was held by Eli, my nephew, who caught an 7.5 pounder.  However, Mike immediately texted Jordan (Heath's brother) when Mike caught his big fish.  (Jordan is the one who has caught the largest bass to date, a 7.5 pounder).  I am sure that it was not to rub it in or anything.  I am sure it was just one fisherman wanting to share exciting news with another fisherman.

And I received my first ever sports ribbon.  It came in the mail.  Mike and I had not stayed for the awards ceremony at the Vine to Wine 5k the other weekend because only young runners were going to win and we were not young and neither did we run.  But turns out I won third place in the 60 to 98 year old female age group.  This is the first year I have qualified for this age group.

So after opening the envelope and finding the third place ribbon I went back online to see the stats for myself.  Turns out there were only 6 women in my age group.  Nevertheless I have pinned my yellow ribbon on the refrigerator where it has elicited a lot of attention from Mike.  He claims I only won because he set the pace.  Dream on.

My prize is a discount admissions fee to next years race.  I have definite plans to be there.  I may even train this time.  Maybe I can get a second place ribbon.  I wonder what color it is.
