Dallas Update
Suzanne and Heath have been keeping busy in Dallas.
First, they have acquired a new pet. His name is Finn. He does get along with Heath's cat or perhaps I should say that Heath's cat tolerates him. Heath and Finn have started attending obedience school.
Suzanne and Heath's new apartment is in downtown Dallas and near a dog park which is Finn's favorite place to go (preferably on a daily basis). Here he is dressed for Halloween as Rob-Finn.
Suzanne also attended the Texas State Fair which is held in Dallas every year. It was a work event so she hung out with her coworkers. Mike was jealous because the Texas State Fair has a great car show. As far as I know, Suzanne did not look at any cars. All she mentioned to me was the 'great' food.
Although the Funnel Cake Bacon Queso Burger won the 2017 Best Tex Choice Award winner, Suzanne did not try it. Of course, she is a vegetarian so I am sure that was the main reason. She settled on trying one of the sweet finalists- the deep fried Texas sheet cake. This is a Texas Sheet Cake is coated in Cocoa Puffs, cinnamon sugar and Panko crumbs, fried, covered in a dark fudge icing made with Dr. Pepper, and topped with pecans, whipped cream and a strawberry. Suzanne says it was delicious.
But Suzanne has mainly spent her free time this month testing out chili recipes on Heath. There is an annual chili cook-off at the Dallas Zoo and this year Suzanne was determined to attend, participate and make a great showing. This interest in the chili cook-off stemmed from a personal vendetta between Suzanne and last years chili cook-off winner in the vegetarian category. He is not himself a vegetarian and this among other things struck Suzanne as just wrong. So she perfected her recipe and entered the contest.
I wanted to be supportive of my daughters efforts so I used my new embroidery machine and embroidered her a towel to take to the competition along with her chili. I did not want her to appear over confident but I did want to intimidate the completion.
However, when Suzanne arrived at the competition this is what her vegetarian chili nemesis had for his display. I'm not sure she even displayed my towel after she saw this.
Alas, Suzanne did not win in the vegetarian category. There were three entries this year but her nemesis won. Even Suzanne had to grant that his chili was good. However, Suzanne did tie for the people's choice award which was a competition between all of the chili's at the cook-off, meat and no meat. She was pretty pumped especially when she got the Starbucks gift card as her prize. So, I guess that is it. All's well that end's well.
