Mabel Surgery

Putting on Mabel's shirt the first time.
Mabel, our basset hound, has fatty tumors.  Nothing unusual about that.  They look like soft bumps under her skin.  The problem was that she was continually scratching the one on her shoulder and it was often a bloody mess. We could not even take her to have her picture taken with Santa.  It just looked awful.  This has been going on for months so we finally scheduled surgery to remove it.  This occurred right after Christmas.

Mabel went through the surgery fine but came home with instructions to wear a shirt.  This would protect the stitches from her scratching.  So Mike and I went to Walmart and found two $3 boy's shirts for her to wear.  I'm not sure how she felt about wearing them but the rest of us thought they were pretty cute.

We have been so pleased with the results of the surgery that Mike fixed up his truck.  Since Mabel rides in the truck twice daily (to and from doggy day care at Mike's folks house), behind the front seats looked pretty bad where she had brushed up against them with her open wound.  Mike cleaned up the truck and installed new seat covers he received for Christmas.  Now both Mabel and the truck are looking pretty good.
