Other Activities on Memorial Day Weekend
We were not only cooking, eating and drinking over Memorial Day weekend. We found other things to do as well.
On Saturday morning, prior to breakfast at Denny's, we went horse shopping. Team Horse hit a set back though when I decided now was not the time to buy a horse.
Sunday morning while Mike and I were at church, the girls decided to take three of the largest dogs to a dog wash in Vandalia.
Looks like Suzanne was having second thoughts about this project after she got stuck being squeezed into the back seat of the truck with the dogs. I know all three dogs had second thoughts once they arrived at the dog wash. Unfortunately for them though, the girls prevailed.
On Sunday evening, I got the girls and Mike to help me complete a new raised vegetable bed. Emily helped me convince everyone to do it. She wanted me to grow zucchini and I did not have any room for those plants this year. According to Emily, we need this zucchini so I can make chocolate chip zucchini bread and have it in the freezer year round. To make sure there is plenty of freezer room, Emily suggested I skip making any of the regular healthy zucchini bread this year.
As a reward for all their hard work, the girls then went riding in the RZR.
During the weekend, we also had some down time. Laura in particular needed it. She had had a strenuous workout Friday morning at her CrossFit gym.
Of course, one of the highlights of the weekend was presenting the new couch to Suzanne and Emily. It was gratifying to see them take every opportunity to test it out.
Both Mike and I were sad to see the girls leave. Hopefully, the girls felt the same?
