Not All Fun and Games

Sela and Eli's visit to us did not consist of just fun and games.  There were chores and work to be done also.

Even though Mike and I are the ones responsible for growing the items in the garden, we did need help eating the produce.  Emily was a great help eating the zucchini (she is a big fan of chocolate chip zucchini bread).
But we needed even more help eating the eight giant watermelons that all came ripe about the same time.

Then I had to make pies for the County Fair as part of the Home Extension fundraiser and I needed to make a practice pie for taste testing purposes.  (Suzanne taught me to do that.). Andy, Emily and I approved the practice pie so I made two more for the fair.

Other chores included collecting eggs, (Sela), feeding the dogs (Eli), reading library books (Eli), feeding the catfish (Andy, Sela and Eli) working on puzzles (Andy and Sela), sewing (Sela) and working with legos (Andy and Eli).  Sela's sewing projects included a small quilt for Lilly, unicorn horns and a larger quilt for herself. Sela and Andy also took horse back riding lessons and of course everyone helped take care of our new puppy Lilly.

There were many meals cooked at home and Sela and Eli found time to help with the shopping and cooking and eating.  Eli cooked hot dogs, both of them made s'mores and Eli went shopping and brought us all back some cheese balls from the store.  At least, I think he brought them back for all of us.

Now that I look back on this vacation, I hope my guests did not go home too worn out from all their chores.
