Back to our Regularly Scheduled Winter

This last weekend the winter weather was back to normal or maybe even worse than normal.  It was very icy on Sunday and most of the churches closed here in southern Illinois and in St. Louis where Laura lives.  I just saw a headline that said the police responded to 111 crashes in the St. Louis area directly due to this weather.

Here at the pond despite being homebound things went on much as usual.  The geese hung around and guest photographers Suzanne and Heath got some pictures.  We even had a few geese visitors.  We know this because some of the were a different color.  We had four white ones and Heath was able to capture them on the ground and in mid air.

Mike kept an eye on the chickens and we collected some eggs.  The interesting thing is that the new chickens are laying and now Mike says we have the first Americuana egg from our youngest chicken.  All the other eggs I have previously attributed to her must be from Winifred who is not only our oldest Americuana chicken but practically the oldest chicken.  I had just figured she was not laying eggs anymore since she is about four years old.  Mike says the new blue eggs must be from the newest chicken because they are much smaller (pullet size) than any blue eggs we have had previously this winter.

Heath did more wood working this weekend.  He moved inside the Morton Building though.  He was working on making straighter wood pieces out of the wood he cut last weekend.

However, because it was slippery and wet Heath did use the RZR to move around between the buildings.  Finn got to ride too.  Looks like he might be wanting to learn to drive.

Just another winter weekend at the pond.
