Spring To Do List

I have a spring to do list.  Unfortunately because much of it involves being outside, I have not done anything on it yet.  I can hardly fertilize the fruit trees or clean out the raised beds when everything is covered in snow.  Again!  Temperatures above freezing would make doing these chores a lot more fun also.  Maybe by next week?

In the meantime, I had to keep myself busy inside the house.  Last week was Emily's birthday so I did some baking and mailed her a package.  And there was a friend at church that had his birthday on the same day as Emily's so I baked for him also.  Of course, I did not have to mail his goodies so I had a chance to get real creative.  I pulled out my new cupcake book and decorated some cupcakes all by myself since Suzanne was off working.  I think they came out rather well.

I also turned my energies to 'spring cleaning' by organizing my sewing room closet.  This involved a trip to Menards with Mike for some organizing storage cubes and baskets.  The hardest part involved organizing my spools of ribbon.  I did some research on Pinterest though and copied an idea I found.  I suspended dowels through the holes of a small plastic basket and hung the ribbon spools on the dowels.  Then I pulled the ribbon thru the side holes of the basket.  In this manner, when I need ribbon I just have to pull the ribbon thru the hole, cut off as much as I need and I will not have ribbon spinning off the spools and all over the closet.

Because of the snow, I figured Heath would need an 'indoor' project this weekend.  I suggested he update the sign post he originally created for their wedding.  The sign post at the wedding directed guests to the different activities that were available at different places around the pond.  It was placed at the top of the driveway so guests could see it as soon as they arrived.  And it has remained there for the last year and a half.  Of course during that time, all of the directional signs have fallen off but I saved them because I wanted to repaint and repurpose.  Heath handled that for me this weekend and now we are just waiting for the snow to melt to put the sign back outside.  I asked for a MASH-style city directional sign and I specified the cities I wanted.  Heath looked up the miles and direction.  The cities were chosen because we have family members that reside there (or in the case of Suzanne and Heath, they will reside there when the purchase of their new home is finalized at the end of the month.) .

As I write this blog post the temperatures are dropping into single digits and Mike is worrying about the pipes freezing in the shed apartment.  Looks like that spring to do list is going to have to wait for awhile longer.
