Hazardous Fishing
I am not one to borrow trouble. Yesterday, I left Mike fishing on the dam while I went for a two mile walk. Laura, Suzanne, Emily and Suzanne's friend Sarah were fishing with Mike also. What could go wrong?
Well, at first, nothing went wrong. In fact, Mike caught his first fish of the year. He caught a two pound bass.
Then he caught himself.
This situation occurrred because he got his rattle trap fishing lure stuck on a log. When he went to yank it out, it flew back and the hook went thru his pants to lodge into his leg.
I have since learned this is not an uncommon occurrence when a fisherperson is using a rattle trap in the timber. According to the blog at www.bassfishin.com there is a right way to safety retrieve your rattletrap and it does not involve 'bowing your rod by pulling on it. This will load your rod just like you were drawing an arrow on a bow and should the bait come loose it will come back at you at twice the speed of sound and with those two treble hooks, look out!' Now that Mike has learned this the hard way, I am sure it will never happen again. Right Mike?
