A Day of Firsts

The first time this year Mike has mowed the lawn.
The best part is that he is mowing our new grass that was seeded last fall.

Bill found the first mushroom found in 2015 by any Peterson.
At least it was found on our property.
However, it might be the smallest one every found.  It was only an inch around.  I don't know how Bill spotted it.

Possibly of most interest to me, however, was where I found today's duck egg.  Mike has been handling the morning poultry chores and has reported that the ducks have taken to hiding their eggs.  Usually they just bury them under the pine shavings.  But today he dug around in the pine shavings and could only find one egg.  I found the other one later in the day.  Abigail laid her egg next to the hen eggs in Emily's chicken coop.  This is a first.  It is unusual for ducks to go to a spot above ground to lay eggs.  Abigail would have to go up a ramp and into a cozy dark corner to lay the smallest duck egg.

The first time Mike and I have seen our vision of a stone fireplace turn into reality.
The brick layers aren't entirely finished.  The hearth needs some pieces added to the top.
Also Mike is holding up the unfinished mantle.
