Mike in charge

I went to Dallas over Easter to visit our daughter, Suzanne.  Mike remained here at the pond to keep an eye on all the animals and the house construction.  He also managed to squeeze in some time for fishing.

Mike and a four pound bass he caught while I was out of town.

Mike sent this picture along with a text to the whole family.  He was very excited he had hooked the first four pound bass ever caught at our pond.  The rest of us were very excited that he didn't hurt himself with the fish hook in the process.  A couple of weeks ago, Suzanne had to help him remove a fish hook he had gotten stuck in his leg.  Hopefully, this won't happen again as he has switched to using a different lure per a suggestion from his cousin Scott.  (Thank you Scott).  Mike is so happy with the results from using this lure that Suzanne and her roommate Caitlin took me to Bass Pro Shop in Dallas so I could buy more.  (Thanks Heath for helping me to find them.)

Mike also took over responsibility for the chickens and ducks while I was gone.  He said it went well.  Winifred, our Easter Egger hen, even let Mike pet her.  But there was one unusual occurrence.  One of the ducks laid her egg in the duck pond instead of the chicken coop.  Mike found it when he emptied the duck pond at the end of the first day of my vacation.

Mike was very industrious while I was gone.  He did laundry, he power washed the front porch and the driveway, he grocery shopped and he washed my car.  Maybe I should go away more often.

Mike even washed the RZR.
One of our guests over spring break thought it was actually a brown color.
It isn't.  That was just the mud that covered it.
