The Flooring Guys

We have two groups of flooring guys.  We have the downstairs guys who were suppose to install the sheet vinyl last week and the upstairs flooring guys who are doing the vinyl tile and bamboo planks.  The upstairs flooring guys were able to install vinyl tile in all the upstairs bathrooms and most of the kitchen before they left last weekend.

The downstairs guys couldn't install the sheet vinyl last week because there was too much moisture in the basement.  So Larry got the geothermal guy to come out and finish the installation of the geothermal unit.  Then Mike was instructed to run the unit between heat and air all weekend which would fill the dehumidifiers they had installed in the basement.  The idea was that this would pull the moisture out of the basement.  So Mike spent the weekend running up and down the stairs in the house checking thermostats and emptying dehumidifiers.  He had to walk across the newly installed upstairs kitchen vinyl tile to do this.  I specifically picked this tile, by the way, because it was about as durable and as maintenance free a floor as I could find and still look nice.

On Monday of this week, the upstairs flooring guys reported back to work and continued to lay the vinyl tile.  When they finished for the day, we found this sign posted in the garage.

It says, 'Please, no mud on new floor.  Thanks.'

Of course, since no one was working this last weekend, the only ones who could have tracked mud on the new vinyl floor were Mike and myself.  Apparently, these guys care more about the cleanliness of my floor than I do.  

Anyway, they are doing a great job.  The upstairs floor guys have finished with the kitchen vinyl tile and moved on to the bamboo planks in the great room.  See picture below.  We have yet to see the downstairs floor guys.
