...on construction. Here is a picture of Mike and myself sitting on our new deck drinking wine and looking down at the trees and birds on the pond. This is a first for us. United Builders finished the deck Thursday but didn't complete the railing. We grabbed some chairs and went out there anyway.
...on the Lincoln's visiting Vandalia. There was an article about the Lincoln impersonators visiting Vandalia in the local paper this week. The author, Linda Hanabarger, mentioned how the Lincoln's were so impressed to be walking on the original 1836 floorboards in the House of Representatives chamber in the old state Courthouse. She said, 'They were able to walk where Lincoln walked. Outside Vandalia, there are very few places that can claim that honor.'

Where will one make s'mores? And is the lawn firefly-worthy yet?
I had to ask Mike about the s'mores. Right now our place to make s'mores i.e. set up a campfire is between the house and the shed. At one time it was in a nice clearing but now it is on the driveway and is actually a bit close to the dumpster. I think it is time to find another place. We are thinking about a fire pit in the back yard.
As for a firefly-worthy lawn, I think we have one now. Anyone interested in chasing fireflies last summer had to go over to Frank and Lois's house and run on their lawn. This summer our guests can chase fireflies on our new lawn. I would suggest they wear shoes as we still have a few dirt spots.
...with our Mushroom Hunter Correspondent, Bill Peterson
Well this may be my final update of the year. Today thanks to Mike we found 14 nice mushrooms. So our grand total again thanks to Mike is 255 mushrooms. A very bad year according to mom. This month has gone to darn fast for me today πππ€
However I do miss my wife a whole bunch and of course Willy ππ
