Fishing Records

Mike and Sela were busy setting fishing records the other day.  Sela was going for maximum fish caught in one day (42) and Mike was helping her out.  The next thing we knew Mike was yelling and running along the bank.

Mike had caught a five and one quarter pound bass.  We know this because that tool he is using to hold the bass is a very reliable scale.  Bill and Mike tested this scale when Bill was here in April.

Still we wanted photographic proof that this was a big fish so Emily is putting her whole fist in the fishes mouth to give a more accurate indication of the bass's size.

Mike immediately got busy texting his fish photo to his brother and cousin.  Emily got out the paper towels so we could prove visually that this is not only a heavy fish but a long one too.  Guess it is time to keep a yard stick down at the dock to help measure our catches.

To give you a historical prospective, I have included a picture of the first day bass were added to the pond.

On July 11, 2012, approximately 3 years ago, we added 600 bass to the pond.  They were each about 3 inches long.  We've come a long way baby!
