Thanksgiving Day 2015

We began the day at 5 am.  Emily, our guest Laura Flannery, and I signed up for the Gobble Hobble Fun run which began at 7 am.  All participants had to be there by 6:30 am but since it took 45 minutes to get there we had to make quite an early start.  Mike came along as the designated photographer and driver.  (As an example of how great minds think alike, Suzanne had signed up her sister, her roommate Caitlin, and her boyfriend, Heath, for a Dallas Thanksgiving fun run also.  Of course, their run didn't start until 8:30 am and they spent the night at Caitlin's parents house just so they could be closer and thus sleep in later. )

Once we returned home, preparations for our Thanksgiving meal got under way.  Emily cooked the turkey and stuffing and bread.  I handled the sides and we bought the dessert.  Laura and Emily made the table favors and I handled the decorating.  Frank and Lois came over to join us for the eating part of the meal.

Even though we had a real complete kitchen available to us in the house this Thanksgiving, we still were having trouble coordinating the cooking of all the dishes.  So Mike suggested we use the shed oven.  We ended up cooking the turkey and the green beans over there.

After our meal, the girls were still feeling energetic.  So they went kayaking on the pond.

We missed having Laura and Suzanne with us, but otherwise it was a very good Thanksgiving.
