Extra Ordinary Weekend

Dana wearing Emily's birthday present.
It is an apron Emily made on my new sewing machine.
It was an unusual weekend.  First, it was Lois and Frank's 66th wedding anniversary and we had them over for dinner.  Second, Emily attended her roommate Dana's 21st surprise birthday party in Champagne Illinois and, third, oh yeah, we got a new puppy.  His name is Frankie.  He is 8 weeks old.  He is a black and tan basset hound.

Mike drove Laura and Emily to Russiaville, Indiana to pick up the puppy from the breeders on Saturday.  Emily pretty much cuddled the puppy the entire four hour drive home except for the one or two times she passed the puppy off to Laura to hold, but those times were of very short duration.

Gracie, our miniature dachshund, is fascinated by the puppy.  In the first hour, Frankie was home, Gracie was side by side with her or in her face.  When Mike and Emily took Frankie to visit Frank and Lois across the street, Gracie sat and stared at the door until their return.

Blackie is visiting and he has graciously accepted the newcomer much to Laura's surprise.  The dog that growls at the puppy and doesn't tolerate Frankie at all is Mabel.  It took a lot of effort on our part to actually create a photo op of the two of them together.

It is a good thing that we live in the country because Frankie howled and yelped his entire first night in the basement.  We had Gracie in a crate right next to him but apparently he still felt abandoned.  So tonight, Emily is going to sleep on the couch in the basement next to him.  I hope that helps.  The only ones who got a good night sleep last night were Laura and Blackie and that is because they slept in the shed.  Stay tuned for more news about Frankie from guest blogger Laura.
