Blackie Returns Home
It was time for Blackie to go back to St Louis and stay with Laura. He had been visiting us for the past two weeks. I think Gracie likes having him here. He helps deflect all of Frankie's (the puppy) attention off of her. Mike likes having him here too. He was sad to see him go.
So we agreed to meet Laura at IHOP in Edwardsville. This was Emily's idea. She is visiting us over spring break and wanted pancakes. We had a nice lunch, caught up on each other's lives and then met in the parking lot to exchange the dog for whatever stuff Laura had brought us.
This is not an uncommon occurrence. The girls often take my tupperware containers or casserole dishes home with them when they visit us or I have mail to give them. This time however we were surprised. Laura had been to a St. Patricks Day party the previous evening and a balloon entertainer was there. She asked him to make something special for Emily- a ninja turtle balloon figure!
He must have been inspired because then he made her an adult size Ninja Turtle head band and a sword backpack complete with removable swords.
Then Emily and Laura were inspired to reenact scenes from the movie right in the IHOP parking lot. Thank goodness the lunch crowd had pretty much dispersed.
In case you were wondering, the rivalry was resolved. There was a happy ending.
Perhaps this blog should be renamed, 'Embarrassment in the parking lot?'
