Entertaining Out of Town Guests
Suzanne and Heath flew in from Dallas to spend the weekend at the pond. It is always a challenge to entertain city folk here at the pond but we try.
First, we brought Frankie, the new puppy to the airport. Suzanne and Heath are dog lovers. I think this started their trip off on the right note. Our first stop after the airport was to Jilly's Cupcake Bar. Jilly is a two time Food Network Cupcake Wars winner so we invariably grab some of her cupcakes when Suzanne comes to town. This time Suzanne wanted Heath to share the fun. It did take them awhile to narrow down the choices to six cupcakes but they managed. Champagne and Roses turned out to be the runaway favorite.
After dropping Frankie off at Laura's apartment where he could entertain Gracie and Blackie, we took Suzanne and Heath to Suzanne's favorite St. Louis restaurant, Anthonino's. She loves their goat cheese appetizer.

Then we went in search of Yogi Berra's boyhood home. Mike and I have been to Anthonino's many times but never tried the find these houses. Turns out that Yogi and Joe Garagiola lived across the street from each other. They also lived only one block and one street away from the restaurant. Now that I think about it, Mike and I were doing a pretty good job of entertaining our guests and we hadn't even made it to the farm yet. At the pond we still could fish, ride in the RZR through the timber, have a Monk film festival, cook and eat. Definitely plenty to do.
