Silence of the Lambs
Suzanne and Heath planned and executed Emily's 21st birthday party last Saturday. Suzanne picked the theme. It was based on the 1991 horror movie Silence of the Lambs.
Suzanne and Emily share a love of horror films. I don't know why this genre resonates with Suzanne and Emily and I am a little afraid of what it says about them but it made for some interesting decorations at the party.
Since the party was at my house, Suzanne had to send me a list of food and decorations she needed to have on hand. She and Heath were able to do some party preparations in Dallas but most of the work would have to be done once they got to Illinois on Friday. The list I received included the following items:
-- 1 glass jar or vase that looks like it would fit a human head
-- if you see pate at the store, or any time of meat spread that we could serve with crackers and pretend is human, that would be great
All this was accomplished while everyone else worked to keep Emily away from the house so the party theme would be a surprise. Mike took her with him to St. Peter to pick up soft pretzels, Laura requested her help over at the shed and at one point Emily even went fishing. Unfortunately she didn't catch anything except a stick so she didn't do that for very long. Nevertheless, we were able to keep the theme a surprise and as you can see by the smile on Emily's face she really enjoyed the party.
