Updates on the Dog Pack

We took three of the dogs to the vet on Friday.  We actually had appointments for only two but at the last minute I could see that Gracie did not want to be the only 'inside dog' left behind so I brought her with us.  I wanted to get a weight on her anyway.  Mike and I thought she seemed a lot skinnier than she used to be but we needed proof.  Sure enough, we were right.  On November 5, 2015, Gracie weighed 20.5 pounds.  On Friday, she weighed 17 pounds.  Wish I could lose weight like that.

Frankie escaped the other day.  That was my worst fear realized.  He followed 'Little Girl' one of the outside dogs across the street to Frank and Lois's house.  Mike takes Frankie over their twice a day as it is.  He takes Mabel and Frankie over in the morning.  Frankie entertains everyone by tussling with Lois's dog, Emily, and then once Frankie is worn out Mike brings him back home for Frankie's nap.  We leave Mabel over at Lois's and Frank's for the day.  Later in the day, Mike repeats the whole cycle again when he picks Mabel up from doggie day care.

Anyway, when Frank and Lois found Frankie at their house and no Mike, they called Mike to tell him about their visitor.  When they got no reply because Mike was out in the timber mushroom hunting with Bill, they decided to throw Frankie in the four wheeler and take him to Mike.  They were successful in their endeavor however this was the first time Frankie had ever been in a four wheeler.  He howled and barked the entire trip.  No one has tried to put Frankie into a four wheeler since.

I went to visit Blackie this weekend.  Okay, I really went to St. Louis to see a play at the Fox Theater.  Laura and I went together to see the musical 'Bridges of Madison County'.  Fox Theater is a very ornate old theater.  They even have a doorman.

Blackie seemed please to see me even though it had only been six days since I had last seen him at the farm.  He became more and more affectionate with me the closer I come to leaving.  I don't think it is me he is so attached to as it is the farm and Mike and the dogs who live there.  Don't feel too sorry for him though.  He and Laura are coming to the farm this weekend to get him is 'farm fix' and to go mushroom hunting.
