Mother's Day Weekend Part 1

My Mother's Day activities began on Friday night when I attended the Mother Daughter banquet at Lois's church.  They men of the church served lasagna, salad and bread to a good number of mother and daughters including Lois and I as well as Mary (granddaughter of Lois) and Kristy (great granddaughter of Lois and daughter of Mary).

My daughter Laura showed up after the banquet was over.  But this was not a problem for me because I was grateful that she took the time after work to go to the second best bakery in St. Louis to get us a beautiful Mother's Day cake.  We were going to use it on Saturday when we had Lois and Frank over for lunch.

Laura also brought me pastries from the best bakery in St. Louis.  She stopped there to check the place out even though they were too booked up to squeeze in another cake order from us.  We definitely need to order a cake from this place at the earliest opportunity.  Their pastries were great.

Of course, Saturday was not totally devoted to entertaining.  We also managed to squeeze in a few other activities.  Laura and Blackie took a nap in the new lounging hammock and then later both she and I went on the pond.  Laura took out the paddle board and then she showed me how to do it.  For my first time on the paddle board, I thought I did pretty good.  Didn't fall in at all.
