Chicago Cubs National League Champions

Superstitions abound in this house.  Apparently they are a major factor in the Cubs winning the national league championship.

After the Dodgers won two in a row during the National League playoffs, Mike discovered that if he sat in the hardest chairs in the house and only listened to the game on his phone that the streak could be broken.  This worked so well for game four that Mike did it again for game 5.

The hardest chairs in the house are in the kitchen.  This impacts me.  Instead of a quiet evening for me on the upper floor while Mike is shouting at the TV downstairs, he is upstairs listening to the radio and updating me on sports happenings.

Emily came to visit us before game 6 and Mike explained how he would be listening to the game instead of watching it.  It took her awhile but she finally convinced him that her good luck overrode his good luck.  According to her every time she watches the game with him, the Cubs win.  So, they reached a consensus and watched the game downstairs.  I read my book upstairs.  And the Cubs won. The first time in 71 years that they have been in the World Series.
