Winning Streaks

As anyone who listens to any news station or reads any newspaper already knows the Chicago Cubs have won the World Series.  The last time they won was in 1908 and the last time they were even in a World Series was 1945 so this was a big deal.  I'm sure many people were ecstatic when the last out occurred in overtime after a rain delay early Thursday morning for a game that had started Wednesday evening.  (Rumor has it that fair weather Cubs fans Suzanne and Laura had long since gone to bed in their respective houses.)  In our house, for those who were still up, the feeling was predominately relief.  Even the dogs seemed to be pretty mellow for such an auspicious occasion.

The next morning I was feeling pretty chipper.  Up until now Mike had been staying up really late to watch all the baseball games and had been so stressed out over said games that he was just not able to get up early enough in the morning to feed the chicks. Now that the entire round of post season play was over Mike was going to take over this duty just in time for the cold weather to start.  This is the kind of streak I can really get behind.

And in addition to his now early morning chicken duties Mike also took over making our bed.  He has just broken a streak of 26 years in regards to our bed making.  In all the time we have been married he has never made the bed more than one night in a row and that was very infrequently.  Now he does it daily.

What can I say?  We are all winners here!

Speaking of winning streaks, Emily's SIUC ASCE concrete canoe team is already making plans for next years contest.  If you wish to donate to their cause the link is https://salukifunder.siu.edu/project/2957

Thanks in advance!  Donations for as little as $10 for paint on up to $500 to cover registration fees will all help their cause.
