Winter Weather

Winter weather can have a negative impact on planned winter activities.  Fortunately, February has been very mild.  As a result, Mike and I have been busy both indoors and out.

Last Thursday, Mike and I were able to drive to St. Louis and see Martina McBride at the Peabody Opera House.  She had three country acts open for her- Post Monroe, Maggie Rose and Lauren Alaina.  I feel like we got to see both the old and the new in Country music in one evening.

One of the best parts about the evening was that the concert was held in the Peabody Opera House.  Martina McBride commented on the fantastic acoustics but I also enjoyed the ambiance.  As one reviewer said, 'think sleek vintage elegance plus all the modern amenities'.  Or as the reviewer went on to describe the theater, 'an art deco masterpiece of high ceilings, subtle gold trim and scarlet velvet seats.'  My pictures just could not do it justice so I gave up trying.

Mike and I were early so we enjoyed a drink in the bar.  That's when I noticed his shoes.  Obviously, Mike was not overwhelmed by the elegance of the venue.  He was wearing his new all weather nylon camouflage moccasins from Bass Pro Shops.

We have also upped our daily walks from two miles to four miles.  We do two miles on the road and two miles through the timber.

I usually grab my camera for the walk through the timber.  I never now what beautiful sights await.

I do not care whether the groundhog sees his shadow or not this winter.  I can handle six more weeks of this weather.
