The Old Fashioned Way
It is time to build the gazebo. Both Emily and Laura will be here for their spring breaks and we want to take advantage of having those extra pairs of hands available.
Mike began construction Thursday. According to the 30 page building manual the key to a successful build is to have the ground level. That way the roof will fit perfectly.
So Mike and I picked the site and then the direction for the doorway. We want to use the gazebo for the wedding so the opening will face the driveway and the gazebo backdrop will be the pond. Here I am standing in the site facing the doorway. Looks like the tree by the house might even give the site some shade.
Then Mike began to level the site. His original plan had been to borrow his dad's tractor and dig up the area but he decided to do it the old fashioned way. He got down on his hands and knees and placed each of the eight corner concrete blocks using a shovel and a string with a level. Pea gravel was placed under the blocks to keep them steady and work was completed.
Now he needs those extra pair of hands to open the gazebo box and build the floor.
