Bills Visit
Bill has been here about three weeks now. He is living in the shed apartment and seems to be enjoying it. The dogs are too. They spend all their time at the apartment with Bill. Mike has to go collect the two little dogs at night when it is time for them to eat. They would rather sit on the couch with Bill then come home.
Of course, the dogs have to leave the apartment when Bill goes mushroom hunting. But they do not seem to mind. For the two little dogs this might have something to do with the fact that Bill lets them ride in the four wheeler. As a result, we are having a hard time getting the dogs to accompany us on our four mile walks. If Bill rides by or they hear his voice, they abandon us in a heartbeat. This goes for the big dogs too.
Bills only escape from the dogs is to go fishing. Mike has bought two new batteries and two new trolling motors so each of them can take their own boat. This does not preclude them from conversing. I can hear them calling each other across the pond when I am in the house.
Mike as the resident pond expert has had to give Bill fishing tips. He even lent Bill some of his wacky worms which have proved so effective in the past. When Bill finally tried one he caught the largest bass ever caught at our pond - 5.62 pounds.
Mike, ever the perfect host, did not even complain that it was Bill that pulled in this fish and not him. However, when several days later Bill pulled in an even bigger bass (6 pounds) I think Mike may have been a little jealous but just for a moment. Bill did not even use the wacky worm this time either.
I am not sure who is having a better time with Bills visit, Bill or the dogs. But, at least, everyone is enjoying themselves.
