New toy

Mike has this theory that the right tool for the right job can make a world of difference in how efficiently a job can be completed.  I realize it is not an original theory but it has become a very compelling argument to use on me when he wants to buy a new piece of equipment for the pond.  That is why we needed another building- to store all of this stuff.

Our latest purchase is a WeedRaker.  The WeedRaker is designed for pond use.  According to the manual it removes decaying organic matter and roots of weeds from the bottom of the pond as well as the stuff that is floating on top.  It is 37 inches wide and has an 11 foot handle.  If you wish it to be longer than 11 feet they provided a rope to tie to the handle.

I will say Mike was very excited to use his new tool.  It was suppose to be for his birthday which is next month but of course he had to try it out.  Besides he had told his whole family about it so everyone was really curious.  Frank and Lois immediately drove over for its debut.  Bill even took a break from mushroom hunting to come see.

The overall consensus is that it works pretty well.  Mike has used it twice now to pull up the moss that is blown over to the banks.  We are hoping that between this rake and the aerator, we will be able to cut back if not eliminate putting chemicals in the pond to control the weeds and debris on the surface of the pond.

Even I have to admit.  This was a good purchase.
