April Flowers

April is the time of year I get inspired to try to grow vegetables again.  It starts because I see the flowering plants coming back to life in our house and shed flower beds.  Unfortunately they were not planted by me but by the landscapers we hired.  But still they make me want more greenery.

So I started haunting the local stores, Buchheit, Rural King, True Value and Wayne's Produce, because they all sell seedlings this time of year.  I bought regular and cherry tomato plants, pepper plants including a giant jalapeño and a bunch of herbs from Buchheit's.  But I could not stop there.  I kept looking until I found even more tomato plants, a zucchini plant (only one plant this year) and
more herbs.

Then I scoured the ads for sales of potting mix.  Rural King had some on sale but I never get enough so then we had to go back and buy more when True Value had coupons.  I did not need to buy tomato or pepper cages because I bought those on sale at the end of the growing season last year.

Once I finally had all of my supplies at the ready, I rounded up Mike and we planted my raised beds.

Now that everything is planted I just need to water and watch.  I am sure that all my plants are going to do well because after all I am a gardener with three full years of experience.  In fact I am so confident that I went back to the store and bought a spaghetti sauce spice mix.  That way I will be ready to go as soon as I have 6 pounds of fresh tomatoes.
