Setting Records

During the two weeks that Sela and Eli were at the pond a lot happened.  We even managed to set a few pond records.

Biggest Catfish Ever Caught at the Pond (It was seven pounds. )

Eli also had a few other fishing firsts.  He is the only person (believe it or not others have tried) to catch a fish with fish food on the hook.  Eli is also the first person to catch a blue gill in a net.  His sister had spent the week refining the technique but Eli was the one to snag a blue gill in the net.

Best Cake Made from Scratch and Served at the Pond

Sela actually may qualify as the most creative chef ever at the pond.  She does not use a cookbook.  She is also very time conscious so she uses the microwave for the actual baking.

Sela actually baked this cake the day we invited a family from church, the Joiners, to come over and play on the blob.  Once we all worked up an appetite, we adjourned to the house to eat Sela's chocolate cake and homemade oatmeal cookies (also made from scratch).  Both were well received.  In fact, later that week when the Hemkers dropped by to play on the blob, they mentioned that they had already heard about Sela and her great cooking.

Most Chocolate Zucchini Bread Made in One Day

I claim this record.  I only planted one zucchini plant this year and I was determined to monitor it so I would no longer get giant zucchini's.  I will have to try and meet that goal another year.

In the meantime, I started baking to use up my zucchini's.  Sela decided that these were pretty tasty even though I used a recipe and the oven.

I can hardly wait till next summer to find out what other records Sela and Eli can set at the pond.
