Indoor Activities

Now that summer is winding down, I have found myself with a bit more time on my hands.  So I have been able to work on items that have been at the bottom of my todo list.

One of the first things I have done is to start trying new recipes again.  I particularly enjoy trying new recipes that also use up whatever over abundant fruit or vegetable I have on hand.  This latest recipe to catch my eye was Strawberry Cream Cookies.  This recipe won second place at the 2017 Illinois State Fair.  The item I had in overabundance- homemade strawberry jelly.  Emily may have moved to California but she left all of her strawberry jelly here.  I need to use it up.

I served these Strawberry Cream Cookies at a church event.
They were very well received.

I also pulled out my basket of sewing projects.  The first one I picked was placemats for the kitchen table.  I like to switch out my placemats periodically.  These placemats will make up my summer series.

Then I found a more timely project.  I decided to make a Batty Mantel Scarf to use to decorate my home for Halloween.  It took awhile to collect all the supplies and I had to have a few telephone consults with my sewing expert Aunt Kathy but it is finally finished and in use.

And I do not have to worry about running out of projects.  I just found out there is a Midwest Quilt Conference being held here in Springfield Illinois starting tomorrow.  I am definitely heading that way to find out what projects are trending in the quilting world and which ones I would like to tackle.

And I love the fabric choice. You have enough orange with the pumpkins so it's a good balance
