Never Home

So far this week I have spent more time in St. Louis then I have at the pond.  Since Laura and I had play tickets on Sunday and then on Monday I had an appointment in nearby Fairview Heights, I decided to spend the night at Laura's.  She even cooked me dinner.  It was shrimp in pasta with spinach and basil and was delicious.

The show that was opening the Fox Theater Season was 'The Bodyguard, The Musical'.  It was very good.  All the musical numbers were great.  But  our 'arts' weekend continued after the play when Laura and I went to the movies.   We saw 'The Mountain Between Us' which was also good.  However, the movie may not have been the best part.

Laura and I watched the movie at a newer movie theater near her house.  It was a little stressful.  As we paid for our tickets we had to make a decision about which seats we wanted to have.  This is not something Laura or I had done before.  When we got to our seats we were very pleased.  They were very comfortable leather ones with armrests and drink holders.  As we looked around the theater we learned that they even reclined.  As Laura said this was nearly as good as watching a movie at home.  Being in the big city definitely has some advantages.

No sooner did I return home then Mike took off.  He headed to Chicago to meet up with Emily (our California girl) to attend a Chicago Cubs playoff game in Wrigley Field.

Mike's name had been added to a lottery and he had actually won the chance to purchase two tickets.  He and Emily met up at the airport where she flew in from San Francisco just for the game.  We wanted to make sure she was comfortable at the game so before he left Mike made sure to pack her a sweatshirt, windbreaker, mittens, scarf and ear warmers.  Of course all she asked is that he pack the W flag.  Even though the game may not ended the way they wished I know they enjoyed getting to spend this time together.

However, both Mike and I are ready to spend the rest of our week back at the pond.  Time to stop gallivanting and stay home.
