Emily's Visit

The rest of Emily's Christmas break was uneventful.  Of the two weeks remaining after Christmas she spent one of them at Suzanne's and Heath's apartment.  Heath and Suzanne were both working so I know she spent most of her days with Finn.  Looks like they had a good time.

When Emily returned she resumed cooking me dinner which was a wonderful vacation for me.  This even allowed Emily to use the Bobby Flay cookbook that was a Christmas gift from Suzanne.

Cod covered with a salsa verde and avocado sauce, fresh pomegranate seeds and cilantro
We also managed to find time to celebrate Frank and Lois's 68th wedding anniversary, Blackie's birthday and a belated Frankie birthday.  Since we were a bit worn out from planning social events, we decided to combine these events into one dinner party.  The humans had cupcakes for dessert while the dog participants had homemade dog treats made by Laura.  Both desserts were very popular.

We did not make Emily do all the cooking while she was here.  Mike and I took her to Edwardsville to Red Robin.  In fact, we went twice.

We also took Emily to Kohl's to buy some jeans that did not have holes in them.  She got so much flack from her grandparents on Christmas for wearing her best pair of jeans (which happened to have holes in them) that Emily finally changed clothes so she would not be teased anymore.  Next visit Emily will not have to do that.  Even better from my point of view, Emily turned the teasing around on Mike because he wears several pairs of jeans that have (nearly indecent) holes in them.   This motivated him to finally buy new jeans.  Hurray!

Mike and I enjoyed having Emily stay with us over her Christmas break and she said she had a good time too.  I think she went back to school rested and ready to tackle her spring semester.
