Entertainment

All three girls called today.  They asked what Mike and I were up to and I had to rack my brains to come up with an interesting answer.

Mike has taken to taste testing new products he finds at Walmart.  He began with the Hostess new Bakery Petites.  He chose the Fudge Blondie Crispy Thins because the picture looked like my homemade taffy butter bars.  He says they taste good but they do not taste like taffy butter bars.  They also don't have the same texture as taffy butter bars.  Taffy butter bars are soft but the Hostess bars are crisp.  Hence their name.

Later, Mike checked out the new Dorito Blaze tortilla chips.  He says they are not blazing hot at all.  However, I am of the opinion that he has long since burned up his taste buds eating all those jalapeños we grew in our garden, so I would not believe anything he has to say about how spicy a food may be.

Mike has also taken on a new project.  He has decided to fix the baseboards in our mud room and basement where puppy Frankie chewed the wood.   This has turned into a bit of a project since we could not find a paint brush, the primer we had was frozen and we are not sure we actually have the right color paint.  However, Frankie, who just turned two, actually did this damage several winters ago so we obviously there is no urgency in completing this project.

I have been quilting.  I am working on past due Christmas projects.  I figure if I start now surely they will be ready for next Christmas.

I continue to take pictures.  I have taken a lot of the ice melting on the pond.  I take them from our back balcony so I do not get cold.

I think I had better start planning now to have something more exciting to report next week or the girls may quit calling.
