Friction

It is less than two weeks until Valentines Day and despite the fact that this should inspiring a Kindly atmosphere here at my house, the opposite has occurred.  There has been some friction between Mike and I.

It began a few weeks ago when we were invited to our neighbors nine year old birthday party.  We could not agree on a present.  We had to take two; one from me and one from Mike.  Mine was very appropriate for a nine year old crafty girl.  I got her a kit to make a pom pom small rug for her bedroom.  It was in purple her favorite color.  Mike picked out something she could play with her little brother.  It was a sumo wrestling kit.  You blow up these innertubes, place them around your middle and bounce off of each other.  I do not know which gift Alison liked better.  I tried to sound her out about them when I saw her a week after the birthday party but I think she was being diplomatic when she told me she just had not gotten around to opening either one of the boxes yet.

Then a few days ago, Mike and I had a difference of opinion about how to use a Christmas present.  Heath and Suzanne gave us a coaster set for our living room.  Heath made all of the 8 coasters and the box.  He used a wood burning tool to decorate four coasters that reflected my interests and four coasters that reflected Mike's interests.  Mine had a sewing machine on them.  Three of Mike's had Frankie in profile.  The last one had a picture of Heath's brother Jordan holding the record breaking seven pound bass he caught last summer.  I got in trouble because I was actually using that coaster.
I really did not think that Heath meant for only Mike to use his themed coasters and me to use mine.  I mean what are our guest's suppose to do?

Anyway, I hope Mike and I will get back in sync by Valentine's Day.  I am looking forward to sharing a bottle of wine with him and I do not want to be arguing over the coasters.

Heath is so talented. He made us a set with kites on them. Last year he etched glasses with a personal icon on each. All of the aforementioned are almost too pretty to use!
