Trying New Things

This has been the month for trying new things.

First I took a herb growing class where I came home with homework.  We had planted herb seeds in class and come home with instructions on how to grow them.  This had actually never been a plan of mine.  My gardening results are iffy at best so I always believed that in buying my plants I had given myself a head start on successful results.  So I put the pots on the kitchen table where they have gotten very little sunlight because it is winter, poured some water in the bottom and left them.  I was cleaning off the kitchen table and went to throw the pots away when I noticed some baby plants.  I guess I will have to keep the pots on the kitchen table a little bit longer.

The reason I was cleaning off the kitchen table is item number two.  I decided to add a little culture to our living style here at the pond and bought some napkin rings.  Actually I guess I wanted to add some bling to our meals.  I bought these at the Refined Cellar when Mike, Laura and I went to Pocahantas.

But the most exciting new thing I did was to make Mike's favorite breakfast food from scratch, cinnamon rolls.  I got up early on Valentine's Day to make it for him but even so they were more a brunch item than breakfast.  Mike was pretty impatient by the time I finally had them ready to eat.  He says I should make them again though.  They were the best cinnamon rolls he has had since we moved to Illinois.  This compliment means that the Kroger cinnamon rolls in Texas surpass mine but I think I can live with that.  Now that I have this process down I really do not want to learn a new recipe.

I may have to try some more new things.  I think I will wait until next month though.  Right now I will just relax and enjoy my success.
