New Furniture

Mike and I bought some new furniture for the basement.  The goal was to address three issues.

First we needed more seating when the entire family was here.  We found at Christmas that when we had six adults in the house, we needed more couches so that everyone could get super comfortable watching television.  An option would be to replace the downstairs single couch and chair with a sectional.

Second, the dogs are only allowed in the basement.  Several of our overnight visitors (Laura, Sela and Eli) have requested the opportunity to sleep with the dogs.  Thus we needed a way to do that.  Mike and I were going to opt for a hideaway bed but we fell in love with this sectional instead.  It is extra large so our younger guests could just sleep on it.  It also has two recliners.

Third, we needed comfortable seating for me.  I spend all of my free time in the upstairs living room and I was concerned that Mike might be missing me because he spends all his free time in the basement with the dogs.  So we added a chaise to our new sectional so I could read downstairs.

Although that raised another issue.  Mike and I do not watch the same television shows.  So I needed a way to read undisturbed while he watched television.  He brought in his lawn mower riding sound deafening headphones last night so we could try spending an evening together.  It worked pretty well although maybe I can find some more comfortable headphones.

The true test of the new sectional will occur when the girls all return for a visit.  So right now we will just have to wait and see.
