Lilly's Home

Laura and I headed back to Illinois after a Sunday brunch at Suzanne and Heath's apartment.  I offered to take them out as they had been entertaining us and others at their apartment ever since we arrived but they really like to entertain and cook and they wanted to maximize their time with Lilly.  My breakfast was a delicious waffle with arugula, goat cheese from the Dallas farmer's market (a stone's throw away from their apartment) and my homemade tomato jam (which I had brought.)

Laura and I stopped at a hotel in Missouri on Sunday night.  This was our first night sleeping with Lilly.  She ended up in my bed.  Of course, by the time we turned out the light she was wide awake and ready to play.  I finally convinced her to lay still and we both dropped off to sleep.  She slept right next to me the entire night which made it really hard to turn over as I was afraid of crushing her.  Needless to say, we got an early start the next morning.

After dropping Laura off at her St. Louis apartment, Lilly and I headed to Illinois.  For the first time, she had to stay in her box.  She was not happy about this (I know this because she whined a lot and kept trying to jump out of the box) but I was firm.  We arrived at the pond without incident.

At the pond, Lilly met a lot more of her family.  Emily had arrived from California a few days before and was eager to make Lilly's acquaintance.  She also introduced Lilly to her new dog friends.
As the closest in age to Lilly, Mike and I were hoping that Frankie and Lilly would hit it off and be able to play together.  It did not take long for both dogs to fall in with this plan.  Of course, at first we were a little worried.  Frankie did not know what to make of something so small and we thought he might think she was one of his chew toys.  He has a lot of unstuffed animals he throws around.

My niece and nephew arrived with their mother and Laura later in the evening.  They liked Lilly too and even started helping take care of her.  Here they gave her her first bath.

The next morning I got to spend some one on one time with Lilly before everyone else got up.  We sat outside while she expended some energy playing with a chew toy that is as big as she is.  I think she is going to like it here.
