Spilsbury Visit

Week 2

Eli's party was the first and last night that all the Spilsbury's were present at the farm.  The very next day Jonna and Jackson headed back to California while Emily arrived from there.  Even though Sela and Eli had already been at the pond for awhile we were able to come up with a few new things to do.

We had a pokeno night.  Grandma got in on that and won a lot of candy.  She really enjoyed that game.  Sela organized two scary movie nights that despite an open invite only Andy, Sela and Emily attended.

On Sunday night, Laura headed back to St. Louis as she had to work the next day but Emily and Mike took Sela, Eli and Andy to the Bond County Fair.  They had the option of attending the rodeo or the carnival and the carnival won out.  They told me they did attend the very end of the rodeo.  All I know is that they brought a lot of prizes home from the carnival games.

On Tuesday, Andy took Sela and Eli to VAT19 headquarters for a tour.  Vat19 calls themselves the purveyors of the curiously awesome (gift items) and they create their own usually hilarious YouTube videos to promote and sell these items.  Tour attendees are encouraged to ask for autographs from the YouTube stars and are allowed time to shop in the warehouse.  Eli brought home the biggest gummy (pizza) I have ever seen and Sela brought fun items for the rest of us to do.  First she had us try out these pills that make sour things taste sweet (they work) and then she asked for a volunteer to lick the 'Toe of Satan' which is a red sucker made from a 'chili extract guaranteed to scorch any mortals tongue'.  Mike was the volunteer and he said it did live up to its advertising.

Wednesday was Emily's last day at the pond.  She needed to head back to California the next day.  She took Sela, Eli and Andy to Altitude Trampoline Park and the Popcorn Store.  In the evening, we had Dana, Emily's former college roommate, over for a barbecue and s'more roast.

 And on the last Friday night, Laura joined us in Collinsville at the Fun Park.  Unfortunately it had rained that day so we could not do any of the outdoor activities.  Nevertheless, we had fun at the arcade where Sela and Eli won many prizes and we enjoyed our last meal together at Steak n'Shake.
