What About ...?

In case you were wondering about some of the news items I have previously included in the blog, here are some updates.

Latest Group of Chickens

The six chicks that Mike and I purchased early June are still alive and well.  They get to sleep in the big coup at night with the older chicks but the two groups are not friendly.  Mike is still concerned enough that he separates them for several hours each day just so we know the 'babies' get enough food to eat.

I have noticed that my two Americuana chicks not only look nothing alike but one is considerably bigger than the other.  I wonder if Buchheits has given us some new strange breed of chicken instead of an Americuana.  I guess I will know for sure she is an Americuana when she lays green eggs.  Anyway I have included pictures of them for comparison.  Keep in mind, the new chicks are not overly fond of humans either so I have to take their pictures through the fence.

Raspberry Bush

As previously reported I had a raspberry bush that Emily gave me several years ago and I killed it.  It was the weirdest thing, healthy one moment and gone the next.  We decided I fertilized it when we should not have or at least that is our theory.  So I bought a new one on a whim this summer.  I have been eating raspberries from it right off the vine.  And there are now many vines.  So far so good.

Lilly

Lilly in one of her quieter moments.
Lilly is doing fine.  She hangs out with the other dogs a lot during the day now that all our visitors are gone.   In fact, Frankie is her best friend besides me and Mike.  Thank goodness because I need Frankie to entertain Lilly.  When Lilly gets full of energy and in a playful mood (which means biting) I send her and Frankie outside to play.  He has a lot of patience and will let her play with him until she tires out.  Her play involves biting his ears and tail so I do appreciate his sacrifice.

Finn

Suzanne and Heath took Finn on their recent weekend getaway and he had a wonderful time.  He loved the lake and the boat.  See pictures below.  Actually, the weekend was not planned primarily as a vacation for Finn.  It was a trip for two (and dog) to celebrate Suzanne and Heath's first anniversary.  Congratulations to all!
