Full Calendar

September turned out to be a busy month for me.  I think part of the reason was that I had a backlog of responsibilities because of a busy summer traveling and entertaining.

In the process of helping Emily move her stuff to California, my downstairs ping pong table ended up covered with her stuff.  Since you never know when someone might want to play ping pong, I decided the table must be cleaned up.  It took me a few trips to the post office and one to UPS before I was done with that.

Then there was my latest quilt project.  Several years ago Kathy and I selected a pattern and materials to make Laura a quilt to match her at the time new living room furniture and rug.  I decided I should complete this project for her birthday in November.  (I obviously work best with some sort of deadline.)  Hopefully I will make it.  The quilt top is finished and I have turned it over to a professional long arm quilter to handle the actually quilting.  Then all I will have to add will be the binding.

And then there were my September social obligations.  Mike and I helped with the annual September food packing event in Greenville.  Here is a picture but you can not see us.  Our table was over to the far left (second from the back wall) and a part of Mike's cap is all that is visible of him.  In a two hour period this group packed over 80,000 meals for hungry children and their families in Haiti.

We were also invited to our first ever Grandparents Tea which was held at the Mulberry Grove Elementary School.  The invite came from Mike's fishing friend Hunter, who is in first grade.  Hunter also invited his other neighbors, Ron and Crystal.  I think we were invited to keep the peace.  Sometimes Mike and I act a little jealous when Ron and Crystal get favored neighbor status.

And then there is teaching Sunday school.  Planning lessons and leading activities can be time consuming.  My students love to craft.  So last Sunday we made pom pom pumpkins for the next church potluck.  They can be used as centerpieces.  They enjoyed doing this so much they want to make more next Sunday.

Looks like October may be just as hectic.  Without looking at the calendar I know the first order of business will be decorating for Halloween.  And then there are all those craft shows to attend.  Good thing I like to keep busy.
