Is it Fall or Winter?
I was only gone ten days but it seems like we have gone from summer to winter. Since I have been back the highs have been in the low fifties and some of the lows have been in the thirties. We have had to close the windows on the chicken coop at night to keep the chickens as warm as possible. Even Lilly must be getting cold at night. She has taken to sleeping under her dog bedding.
In the morning we have had steam rising off the pond again.
While I was gone it seems like every corn field within miles of my home had been harvested. Also, it sure looks like the beans on our fields are ready to go next.
We had our first fire in the fireplace since last spring. It has been so long since we had a fire in the upstairs fireplace that Mike and I had forgotten how to get it lit. Fortunately, with a little practice it came back to us.
Whatever the season or the temperatures, it still remains my favorite time of the year!
