The Christmas Tree
Since we started celebrating Christmas on our pond property, our Christmas tree philosophy has been to buy a live tree with a root ball and then plant it after the holiday. We are continuing this tradition this year even though our success with these evergreen trees living after we plant them has been about 50% and those that continue to live do not necessarily look healthy.
Anyway, we went to Randy's Christmas tree farm over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to pick up our tree. We did this at the request of Emily and Laura who wanted to be part of the decision making. As Laura Flannery was visiting us that weekend she got to weigh in on the selection process also.
Actually choosing the tree went pretty fast once Mike told the girls what he wanted. He wanted a small tree because we have to lug it around the property and he wanted one with long needles. Based on our past experience, long needle trees survive better on our property than the small ones. Once the tree chosen, then we moved on to taking pictures.
Grandma had joined us on this shopping trip so we wanted to take this opportunity to take some family pictures. Unfortunately it started to rain but we persevered.
All in all, I think we can call it a very successful Christmas tree shopping day.
