Where's Laura?
It was a very busy weekend for me. I went to the local Art Walk and Harvest Festival with Laura, dropped by Hunter's 8th birthday party with Mike and attended a Holiday Quilting Seminar by myself to get ideas for homemade Christmas gifts.
The Art Walk was fun but it was the same night as Hunter's birthday party so Laura and I had limited time to make sure we covered it all. First while waiting for Laura to finish her phone call with Suzanne I quickly walked thru Piety's Art Gallery which was open for the festival. I enjoy looking at art although I did not know nearly as much about it as all the other people did who were browsing the place. The asked me to vote on the people's choice selection but I was too intimidated so I just signed the guest book instead.
Then I found Laura and the Obliteration Room at the same time. It was right outside of Piety's Art Gallery. It was a three sided tent and everything in it including the walls are one design. The idea was executed by the local Guild president but based on a concept by artist Yoyoi Kusama. The best part was that guests could step inside and take pictures.
I think Laura was the first of the general public to have her picture taken in the Obliteration Room.
The local artist was entranced by Laura's sunglasses which were black with white frames and asked her to pose for a picture that she posted on the Piety Art Gallery Facebook page.
Keeping with the art theme, Laura and I found cookies that you can paint with water that change color. We brought it home and had Grandma demonstrate it for the blog.
I am getting tired of Laura getting all the attention when she comes to Greenville. Her name was in the local paper for best time in her 5k age bracket during the March for Meals for the Senior Center. And now her picture is on the Piety Art Gallery Facebook Page. I think that next year I am going to participate in the Art Walk Amateur Photography Contest to see if I can warrant some publicity too.
